FAQ
A few things to know.
Practical answers for installation and everyday use.
What is 电视上的时钟?
A floating clock for Android TVs and TV boxes. It can display the time over other apps. Some protected screens may hide overlays.
Which devices are supported?
Android 6.0 (API 23) or later is required. Android 6.0 compatibility has been validated on an emulator; physical-device acceptance is pending. Earlier versions were tested on selected Android 7.1.2 and Android 9 devices. The Android version alone does not guarantee compatibility: manufacturer permissions and background policies also matter.
Why is display-over-other-apps permission needed?
This permission lets the clock appear over other apps. The clock stays off until permission is granted. The app explains the permission and attempts to open a system settings page where one is available.
What if my TV has no overlay permission setting?
Look under app management, special app access or privacy settings. Menus vary by manufacturer, and some firmware provides no usable permission screen. If the system does not allow this permission, the app may not work.
Can I show seconds, the date and the weekday?
Yes. Enable each separately and choose a 12- or 24-hour format. The app uses your TV’s system time, so check that the TV clock is correct first.
Can I change the clock’s appearance?
Choose from four text sizes and six colors, adjust text opacity, add a dark background, change its opacity and toggle a text shadow. Settings include a live preview.
How do I position the clock?
Choose any of the four corners, then fine-tune horizontal and vertical offsets. Use Up/Down on your remote to move focus, Left/Right to adjust, and OK to select.
Does OLED shift prevent burn-in?
The clock moves one fixed 4dp step every minute, staying within ±4dp of its base position on each axis. This reduces static placement but cannot guarantee protection against OLED burn-in. Brightness, viewing time and panel characteristics also matter.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
Version 1.0.7 runs its clock locally and requires neither an account nor network permission. Settings stay on your device. Downloading the APK needs internet access, or you can transfer it from another device using a USB drive.
Will the clock return after startup?
With both the clock and Start on Boot enabled, the app attempts to restore the overlay after startup. Some TV firmware restricts background apps and startup behavior. Restoration is not guaranteed; reopen the app if needed.
Why does it not return after a power cut on some Xiaomi TVs?
One tested Xiaomi firmware stops ordinary third-party apps after a cold start, preventing automatic restoration. The app must then be opened manually. Remote-control standby and a cold start are different scenarios.
Is this an official store release?
The available APK is the signed 1.0.7 test build (Debug), not an app-store release. Read the installation and compatibility notes, and verify the APK against the SHA-256 on the download page.
